Roughage is Zev Asher. Although Zev is also a member of Flying Testicle and Bustmonster, many will know Zev as the charming front-man of Canuck/Nippon noise pop subversives NIMROD. Roughage is his long lived experimental ambient noise collage project. YEN FOR NOISE is the first Roughage CD.
YEN FOR NOISE was recorded in Japan in 1991 and 1992. During his stay there, Zev managed to become pals with a number of Japanese musicians. YEN FOR NOISE features appearances by K.K NULL(Zeni Geva), MASONNA, SOLMANIA, MERZBOW, two-thirds of OMOIDE HATOBA, MAYUKO HINO (C.C.C.C), SHOEHEI IWASKI (Monde Bruits), AKIFUMI NAKAJIMA (Aube), YAMAMOTO (Boredoms) and a host of less famous ones. It’s a real trip…man.
This album was supposed to be out two years ago on DOVe… but the guy there is a real goof. Oh, yea… Zev Asher is a friendly man and loves to do interviews. Call us.
